Week 3

Day 15 01/15/11 Remodeling a House

At night, I went to a remodeled house. Some people appreciated what I did. Some people just thought that I was there for fun. At this point, I learned that people should respect one another. Even though they look poor, we still need to respect them. This event was just an example. Who knows that a kid actually asked many questions about the house or the kid might ask the parents to buy the house or the kid is President’s son. That is the same as us. Sometimes, we underestimate lower people, but they might have the same value as us. God wants us to love another and treat everyone the same. Love is a respect.

Day 16 01/16/11 Sick

At first, I was lazy and wanted to take a rest because I was not feeling well. But, I finally accompanied my friends to go somewhere. They asked me to go out because the next day was a holiday. We planned to go to the beach; unfortunately, it was closed. So, we went to U-district. The mall was also closed because it was already 6 pm. We just ate around there. After that, I went home and took a rest. Thank God that I could still hold it. Love is sacrificing for other people.

Day 17 01/17/11 Martin Luther King Day

I think today is the most fruitful day. At the morning, I helped cleaning or steaming the carpet at the Church. It took a long time for cleaning the whole Church. I left the Church in the middle of cleaning because I need to send my friends to Ikea. Then, we had shoreline PM at night. At last, my friend and I carried a heavy drawer into their house. I was tired physically but joyful spiritually. I am glad that I can bless people with God’s strength. Without Him, I might just go to sleep as I was not feeling well. Love is caring for the people in needs.

Day 18 01/18/11 Give a Bible

My plan today was resting because I did not fell well. However, I remembered that I want to give a Bible to my friend. He has passion to learn more about the word of God. So, I went to his house and gave the Bible. The Bible has explanation for each verse. Hopefully, with that Bible, he can grow more in God’s words. God bless him.  Love is giving a Bible.

Day 19 01/19/11 Praying and Sharing CG

We had a Care Group sharing and praying together with a few of the CG members. Some of them shared their problems. It was mainly about friendship. This kind of fellowship was the first time for my CG. We usually only have time for fellowship in CG on Friday. From now on, we set aside time outside CG time for fellowship. My friends started to share their problems, ask questions, and laugh together. I felt the warmth of a fellowship. Finally, we prayed together. Love is praying and sharing

Day 20 01/20/11 Helping My Roommate

I helped my roommate to take a book to his company. I learned to I help him with a cheerful heart. Initially, I was lazy to send the book to my roommate because I wanted to sleep. However, love is helping people with joyful heart, not with a burden heart. So, I found a book and took it to his company in downtown. Love is helping your roommate.

Day 21 01/21/11 Thankful Day

Today, I learned how to be thankful. There are three instances. First, I got a parking ticket when I went to meet my boss at Greenlake. My boss was late, so, the meeting lasted for more than 2 hours. I learned how to be thankful; I thank God for this job. I really like this job. The boss is really kind. As long as I do my tasks, my boss is happy.

Second, it was raining lightly at that day. I was going to go to Northgate mall with my friend to pick up other friends for CG. I complained because of the weather and said, “I don’t like this rain shower that can make me sick.” However, my friend reminded me that “how if it’s a heavy rain or snow?” Human never satisfies. I got reminded that I should be thankful because it was not a heavy rain or snowing. That would be even worse.

Third, today’s CG was going to Harry Potter exhibition. I complained again because some people were late or cancelled to come to the exhibition. I was reminded again that I should thank God because we were still going to exhibition with many people. I thank God that, today, I learned how to be thankful in every situation. Love is having gratitude.

 Lastly, I got homemade Hainamese chicken rice and dark chocolate cookies from my friends that night. They gave me because of love. I was touched. Even though the cookies are bitter, I am still thankful to them. Love is having gratitude.

Week 2

Day 8  01/08/11 Ucup’s Farewell

I arranged Ucup’s farewell. I made a reservation for 50 people. Tim helped me to arrange the transportation. The food was too much and expensive. I feel bad. But this lesson made me stronger. Somebody was actually really thankful that I arranged the event. I am touched. I learned something: gratitude, even a simple gratitude, is an impactful form of love. Even though people complained about the food, I still love doing the event for my awesome friend, Ucup. Love is preparing the best for your friends.

Day 9 01/09/11 Paying the debt

I paid the debt to my friend one month ago. I went to the end of evening service of my Church to give him the check. Sometimes, we forget to pay the debt to our friends, especially for a friend’s birthday gift or food. Love is paying the debt.

Day 10 01/10/11 Another chance

When I was going buy food to-go at T-stat, someone called me. He said he was bored. This person was the same person as in day 7. God answered my prayer and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity again. So, I just came to his house and ate there. He cooked the food by himself. During the lunch/dinner, he shared his struggle and confusion about his choices and directions. I just listened and prayed for him at that time. I prayed for a clear direction in his life. I thank God for giving me another chance. Love has many second chances.

Why are you afraid? You do not have the love from God. Jesus loves it when you do His will. Do not be afraid to make a mistake. Do not just sit down and do nothing. When you see the visible [Do you mean: Although you only can see the visible thing], God can do impossible things. Never give up your hope. When you wake up, God says, “That’s my boy”àIt shows God’s love for us. His perfect love covers our fear. Insecurity can be our stronghold. God wants to remove thick leaves from you. See: 1Peter 5:1-11 and Matt 7:8.

Day 11 01/11/11 Clean up for good

I helped my friend cleaning up his house the night before they went back for good. We need to throw away a lot of things. They did not sleep at all because they have to leave the house in a clean condition. I only slept for three hours. The condition got worse because it was still snowing throughout the night. They were afraid that their flight might be cancelled. However, the snow stopped pouring down and they could go back to Indonesia safely. But, they saw a wrong flight schedule. The plane supposed to take off at 7am, but they thought it was at 9 am. Nevertheless, God is good. They could still finish the packing and go back home on time. Love is helping people to clean up before going for good.

Day 12 01/12/11 Got a treat

I asked my friend to eat at Kritika Noodle. Once again, I like to do one-on-one sharing. We shared about our major. At the end, he made a drama and he paid the all the bill, too. I said, “Wow, you don’t need to do it. For what?” He said, “Thanks for asking me to have dinner in this good restaurant.” I really didn’t expect about this treat, but I promise myself that I will pay the food for him later. Love is blessing people

Day 13 01/13/11 Driving Test

My friend had a driving test with using my car today. I prayed for him and encouraged him so that he will pass the test TODAY. Amen. He passed the test. God answered our prayer. Thank God. He was the 1^st person that passed the test with my car. Usually, the people who learn how to drive with my car always fail because they always got the grandmother instructor. Most people fail the test if tested by her. Also, I could not go to PM at that night but I worshipped Jesus on the bed. Love is helping people get the license.

Day 14 01/14/11 Praise and Worship Time

Praise and Worship time. I prayed so that God hugged everybody tonight. I got a vision. In the vision (in a 360 degree view), I saw all my care group people smiling and happy. However, at one corner, I see one person with a black aura. I cannot see the face. The amount of that person is increasing one by one. I am still figuring out the meaning of the vision. The point is God can reveal something to you when you draw closer to Him. The message: John 21:15-17 "I am willing to forgive and accept you the way you areI don't want to lose you" Receive and living under Grace. Having a deep talk like Father and son. Forgiveness with Grace. 2 Sam14. He is not asking for perfection, but for relationship" Love is praising and worshipping God.

Week 1

Day 1 1/1/11 Family Gathering

In the first day of 2011, in the evening, I went to have a dinner in my friend’s family’s house together with some of my church friends. It was a family gathering. Pastor Irwan and his family came to have dinner together with us as well. I played with his two kids. They were really cute and hyper. We had a wonderful family gathering in 1^st day of 2011. In the gathering, Pastor shared about relationship. He said that love is commitment; it is not just a feeling. God gives us choice; so let your heart guides you. But do not think too much about love. Have a foundation of equally yoke. He recommended a book titled “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” and “Boy Meets Girl” Today I felt the love in every second in the gathering. We shared, played WII, had dinner, played big fish small fish, and laughed together. Love is fellowship.

JESUS We love YOU so much!! Take time today to thank the Lord for at least 3 things, and JOY will fill you! Some people always focus on the negative side but Jesus challenges us to see HIS goodness, you can become bitter or better in life. But I want to encourage you to be become the B from BETTER! Romans 12:9-13 Romans 13:8-14 (clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ!)

I got a message from my brother that if my mom got saved, my father will want to receive Jesus. I believe by faith that this is the time for breakthrough in my family. I also could the feel peace in my family even I was not there. It is the first time we prayed together with my dad including all my brothers and sisters. It was also the first time they celebrate New Year together in Hospital. Even though they were not really celebrating the New Year, they were together to accompany our mom . My mom needed transfusion of blood thrombosis. It was hard to find the right one. Thank God when my both of my brothers donate their blood, the transfusion was succeeded. I thank God for taking care of my family.

Day 2 1/2/11 Ushering

This Sunday service, I was ministering as an usher. There were only the three of us whom ushering at the time. We had a lot of things to do, and that was the first time we’ve done it without an usher leader. Somehow we did everything very well and smooth, although we didn’t know that we need to arrange people to do Holy Communion beforehand. Things like checked the restroom, reserved the congregation chairs with ropes, turned on the TV, prepared the Holy communion, counted the church attendant (although I actually was not able do this because I was too focused on smiling and handshaking people), and prepared the table for food ministry, we’ve done it quite well. Plus, not to forget the important things: sharing and praying together. One of my friends did not have food at his home, so I would take him to Fred Meyer. I learn how to serve people when they need help. Love is serving.

I got this verse two times today. "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you WHEREVER you go." (Joshua 1:9)

Day 3 1/3/11 Sharing and “3 idiots”

I had a dinner at T-station with 4 of my friends. We chat and made a joke. When I took the last person who went home, he had some questions about what is fellowship or sharing, and why people like to share? I explained, “it’s like what we did, the fellowship in T-station”. He did not know how to share, because he has nothing to share. I said to him that people need to experience God first, so they can share. Not only that, we can also share about our life. Like when you have a problem or anything, just share it. You can share from what you get in the Bible, when you learn something in your life, also, in CG when have the sharing time. The reason we have more free nite in fall quarter because we want to get know more of new people. We want all of us to get close each other, so we can share about God freely when we are close each other. At night, we have the Praise and Worship meeting. We need to be excited when we ask people to invite them in a presence of God. Do not feel pressured, but be excited. Always get excited and be honest to them. In Matthew 13, tells a story about a man who wants to sell everything to get the field (Kingdom of God). After I finish the meeting, the last person that I took home called me. He asked me about the Church bulletin devotion yearly Bible verse. He was confused on which verse that he need to read (for example; Genesis 5:1-7:24; does this means he read Gen 5:1 until 7:24? or Gen5:1-7 and verse 24? The answer is the first one anyway) I am really glad that he wants to do devotion or start to read the Bible. Love is sharing, Love is fellowship. When I was at home, I watched “3 idiots”. It is a recommended movie, you should watch it. The moral of the story is pursuing what is your PASSION! Love is sharing

Day 4 1/4/11 Airport

Today, I have sharing from two people one by one. I just realize that I like to talk with one person. The first person shared about his New Year resolution. I am amazed that one of his new year resolution is he wants to do devotional time with God wants to pray everyday not just because he needs help, and lastly, he does not want to speak bad words. The second person,  I taught him driving my car for the test. Similar to the 1^st person, he does not want to speak bad words.  He shared his problems. I picked him at airport. When I was in airport, I helped five people to carry the baggage while I was waiting for my friend. They are really thankful for that. Love is helping people. Love is sharing one by one. Love is helping people carry the baggage.

Day 5 1/5/11 Having a Face to Face Conference

Once again, I like to share about my life story to each other when I eat when there’s only two people. Today I went to SeattleU to sell a book. Then, somebody asked me to eat together around school. We laughed and shared together. At night, my friend asked me to have dinner. Then, I shared with other person again. Use the opportunity to share one another when you with other person. Love is using the opportunity wisely.

Day 6 1/6/11 Japanese Grandma

Japanese Grandma in Musashi

This afternoon, when I was driving I got a message from my friend. It was really so touched. She gave me the verse: Malachi 2:13-18. At night I was invited by Japanese old woman. She is really kind and friendly and energetic. The first time I met her was in the same place last December. At first, I plan to eat with drama team for fellowship, but there are two Japanese old woman ate beside our table. While I was waiting the others came, one of the Japanese Grandma asked me question. Then, we talked each other and even she gave me the food that she ate. She asked my name, when I called my name, she laughed and said “Budaa Budaa” She is really funny grandma and she invited me to come to Musashi restaurant again today. So I met her today in Musashi. She even gave me the gift and treat me Chirashi.soo nice…We shared and talked about her family. After we finish eating, I prayed for her life and she was blessed to invite me and another drama team to come to Musashi restaurant again in February. Nice Grandma. Love is praying for grandma.

Day 7 1/7/11 Personal Relationship

I accompanied my friend in my apartment. He was homesick. I accompanied him and talk to him. When I finished talked to him, I forgot to pray for him. I want to call him, but that’s kind of weird. I asked God to give me another chance to meet him personally and pray for him. In my care group, we have a sharing night (discussion). The message is about do not be afraid to make a dream.  Also, at night my friend asked me about devotion, He wants to have devotion with God but he is busy. I think that people have time to have devotion with God even just a few minutes. We can also talk to God where or whenever we go. Just a simple conversation with God, we can make God smile. Love is personal relationship with God.
